Study Abroad Amid the Havoc of Coronavirus

Every year students all around the world take admission to foreign countries in order to get exposure and a diverse lifestyle. However, due to the global pandemic, the movement across countries got restricted, which reduced international student enrolment drastically. According to a survey done by the educational company Cialfo, around 60% of students say that pandemic has not affected their desire to study in a foreign university. However, around 58% of the students feel that paying full tuition fees for online experience is a big concern for them, and they are worried that they will not get the proper exposure and experience they were aiming for. Many countries have even said that they will receive fewer international students on their land than before.

Countries like Australia, UK, and the USA have started to accept foreign students with the improving situations, but they are still uncertain of the situation, and most of the universities are likely to continue their curriculum on online mode.

An important question now arises: Is it still worth it to enroll in foreign universities even if the students might not get the chance to visit their university and experience the culture? The answer is yes, even though the universities cannot certainly comment that when they are allowed to call overseas students, they can still experience the university’s opportunities and holistic curriculum.

Studying abroad significantly helps students to stand out for job opportunities in the future. They get benefitted from the robust curriculum and network of colleges. On top of that, they still will be eligible to sit on company interviews in the country of their institution. This means that even though students are enrolled with the university through an online medium, they still get the benefits they were aiming for. Not to mention students will be benefitted from new connections and improved language skills.

As the international education environment changes, universities and institutions may begin to offer multi-articulation degrees. This allows students to take classes from the university, in different campuses belonging to their home country. Though this system is not new and has been in practice for a long time, there is a drastic rise in multi-articulation degrees due to the pandemic situation. There are many benefits associate with this system other than a risk-free environment, such as financial relief, the comfort of the home country, etc. However, the success of the program depends on whether the universities will accept this as a standard work visa qualification or not. But this shows that studies abroad will not be abruptly affected by the pandemic as people thought and universities are quickly adapting to the change.

Hence, even though the pandemic has affected plans of universities as well as the students around the world, the advantages of international universities and courses offered by them still stand.
